Bullador Dog Breed

Other names:
Labrador Retriever English Bulldog

The Bullador is a hybrid dog that is part English Bulldog, part Labrador Retriever. (This crossbreed is different from the American Bullador, which is an American Bulldog-Lab mix.) Dogs of this breed are playful, loving, energetic, and protective, and make great family pets. Bulladors are fairly low-maintenance (little grooming, moderate training, and high exercise requirements), and are very healthy overall.

Bullador Breed Details

The Bullador, as a mixed breed, is not an official member of any breed group. Though the exact origin of the Bullador is unknown, it is likely that this hybrid is a result of the designer dog craze of the late twentieth century in the U.S. Dogs of this breed are best suited for active families, particularly those who need a good watchdog.

Bullador Breed Description

If a Bullador were a character in a fairy tale, it would likely be the knight in shining armor. Dogs of this breed are affectionate, good-natured, and almost noble in their protective instincts. And while Bullador information regarding intelligence is mixed (and depends on whether the dog inherits its smarts from the Lab or the Bulldog), what these dogs may lack in intellect, they more than make up in loyalty. To be sure, they will protect their human families at all costs.

When it comes to playtime, Bulladors are some of the best dogs in existence. These dogs are up for anything: Frisbee, fetch, swimming, tug-of-war--even touch football isn't too much for them! Though they make great indoor pets, Bulladors will require a good amount of space (both indoors and out), so a house with a good-sized yard is probably best for them.

And if you're worried about tiring your dog out, know that exhausting a Bullador is virtually impossible. These dogs are strong and possess a great deal of stamina, so even at the end of a busy, active day they will gladly accompany you on a long evening walk.

Bullador Temperament

Active, intelligent, playful, loyal, and sometimes stubborn, the Bullador temperament is one of enthusiasm and devotion. Dogs of this breed are lively and good-natured, and have an intense desire to please their owners; they also get along very well with kids. They can be a bit territorial, though, so they may not do so well with other dogs (and other pets in general), but if socialized with other animals, especially from puppyhood, they'll do fine.

Training these dogs can be somewhat of a mixed bag. If they inherit the Lab's intelligence and sense of obedience they will learn quickly and easily; if they take after their Bulldog parent, on the other hand, they may be strong-willed and more difficult to train. Whatever the case, consistent, patient, and possibly repetitive training methods work best.

Bulladors also make excellent watchdogs. Their protective instincts, athleticism, and natural suspicion of strangers will typically make these dogs confront any perceived threat, usually with loud barks.

Bullador Health

The Bullador is typically very healthy, and is made so in part by hybrid vigor (a condition in which a crossbred animal inherits the healthiest traits of its parent breeds). Still, these dogs can inherit some issues from the Lab and Bulldog including hip dysplasia, bloat, and eye and/or ear problems. These dogs also have a tendency to overeat, so obesity could be an issue as well.

Life expectancy for Bulladors averages 9-12 years.
