Where to Get A Chorkie

Chorkies come from two small, stubborn and demanding purebreds: Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers. They are cute, relatively common and difficult to train, and they are not recommended for first-time families, people with young children or those who are away from home a lot (unless you plan to take your Chorky with you when you travel). They don't bark much but do tend to have a fair amount of health problems even as they are easy to groom. Some breeders may offer them for low prices that can prompt suspicion while other breeders may hike their prices with claims of rare Chihuahua colors (blue, brindle or all-black) or a Parti-colored Yorkie as one or both of the parents. On this page, you can find places that may have Chorky puppies for sale, what to expect and whether this remarkably cute dog is for you.

Chorkie Price

Chorkies are crossbred from Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers, and as neither of this nonetheless cute puppy's purebred parents are recommended for first-time families or even families with small children, so it is with Chorkies. They can be fiercely independent, obstinate around bigger dogs and difficult to train. A lot of early, patient and careful training is required for a Chorkie, and even then they may remain headstrong. They don't make good watchdogs, they don't require much exercise and they want lots of attention. For people who have the time and resources to attend this dog's demands and who love adorable lapdogs, the Chorkie may be a perfect fit for you!

  • Despite Yorkies and Chihuahuas being purebreds, they are everywhere and easy to find; as such, Chorkies tend to not cost much.
  • Chorkies are always going to be small, but there is no guarantee that can be made when they are puppies as to how small they may be once mature.
  • Health guarantees can be expensive, and while it's strongly recommended that you acquire vet certificates from a breeder offering a Chorkie, this is sure to raise the cost considerably.
  • It's very unlikely that a Chorkie's parents will have dog show awards — let alone come from winning bloodlines — but in the off-chance that one of your potential Chorky pup's parents have such a history, be ready to pay a high price.
  • Some breeders may claim that your Chorky pup's Yorkie parent is a "rare" Parti-colored Yorkshire Terrier and that you pay more for the puppies.
  • If a Chorky was bred from a brindle, blue or all-black Chihuahua, you may expect to pay more for one of its puppies.
  • Chorky puppies range in price from $400 up to about $700.
