Golden Akita Breed Description

The Golden Akita is sure to be a gamble. This hybrid may be a very friendly Spitz-type dog whose ferocity and fearlessness is more imagined than real, or she could a big, somewhat Golden Retriever-looking dog with an aggressiveness that is typical of the Akita. Then again, she could be small like an Akita yet with the feathery coat of a Golden Retriever.

Regardless, the Golden Akita will be very smart. How she will express that intelligence could be in many ways. She might be extremely mischievous, or she might use it to try and escape. Any way you cut it, you will always want to be on guard against her getting the better of you. Once she trusts you, however, it should not be too difficult to direct her intellect into agility play and tasks.

Golden Retrievers are happy-go-lucky dogs whereas Akitas are extremely reserved until a call for action is required. This might make for a difficult dog when attempting to understand the behavior of a Golden Akita. It's best to learn as much as possible about both breeds so you can understand what to expect.

As both parent breeds are dogs whose stamina and strength is significant, you can expect the Golden Akita to be no less so. These dogs require a couple or more hours daily of exercise and strenuous activity. They come from hunting breeds that are accustomed to long days in the field.
