Golden Newfie Breed Description

Golden Newfies are said to inherit the best traits of their purebred parents, and this means these hybrid dogs tend to be friendly, hard-working, and courageous. They are great as companions, service dogs and for competition. Whether it's hanging out at the dog park, watching TV at home or playing in the lake, these dogs will be happy to be at your side.

Golden Newfies are intelligent dogs who, like their parents, can excel at most jobs. They can be employed do to a lot of different types of work, and this versatility shows how they think "on the hoof." From search-and-rescue to therapy dogs, to tracking on the hunt, they can do it all — and more!

Despite the serious side to them when it comes to work, these dogs can be more than playful; they love to be clowns! Their desire to please you will be obvious as they goof off. They are also very social creatures who will make friends with your friends, other dogs, and even house cats.

The Golden Newfie is a moderately active dog. When they need to work, they will work. They know how to relax, but they are not lazy dogs. They do need a fair amount of exercise, however, and a couple of hour-long walks daily will do.
