Where to Get A Northern Inuit Dog

Northern Inuit Dogs are the stunning product of the Malamute-Husky-Shepherd mix. They have risen immensely in popularity over the last few years due to their wolfish looks and their Game of Thrones feature as "direwolves". These high energy, athletic dogs need an equally active and experience owner to handle them, not to mention plenty of space to roam (where the climate is not too hot).

Finding Northern Inuit Dogs for sale is not impossible, as long as you don't mind a waiting list. They are currently in demand and there are few breeders in the United States (only 3 are registered with the North American Inuit Society of America). Although there are more breeders internationally, there will be high shipping costs if you resort to importing your NI Dog from somewhere like the UK or Switzerland. Note that adult dogs are easier to get your hands on than a puppy and this is not a breed you will likely find up for adoption or rescue as of this time.

Northern Inuit Dog Price

Northern Inuit Dog price is not information easily found online and will vary from one breeder to the next. Due to their recent increase in popularity vs. their low availability, you will pay a pretty penny for a true NI Dog. Expect them to be more costly than a purebred Shepherd, Malamute or Husky and even more so if you purchase internationally (due to shipping cost). You can evaluate the cost difference between puppies by deciding which of these factors are important to you:

  1. Are the puppies you are considering from a breeder registered with the Northern Inuit Society of America? Were the Huskies, Malamutes and German Shepherds used in the breeding process registered with any kennel clubs, and were they show dogs (especially champions)? All of these instances will place the value of the pup higher.
  2. Does the breeder offer a personal health guarantee where they will accept a puppy back or pay for vet costs within a specified amount of time? Do they or the parents have special genetic testing and certifications such as eye, hip and elbow? These are very useful tools to evaluate how healthy your new pet should be.
  3. Are you searching for a specific size or coat color that is unique? Once again, high demand + low supply= high price!
