Patterdale Dachshund Breed Description

A small height for a dog, they inherit the elegance and proud stance of the Patterdale Terrier, with the loving gentleness of the Dachshund. They are calm and quiet, an ideal indoor dog, yet they are playful when appropriate. Intelligent, loving, loyal, and mischievous are four words Patterdale Dachshund enthusiasts commonly use to describe the breeds personality. The Patterdale Dachshund is a friendly, amusing, and outgoing animal with their families, however they can be much more timid when being introduced to strangers.

Your pet will need daily walks and are very playful but will be more than happy to chase a ball around a yard and even play inside with toys. They have moderate energy levels and will need regular daily exercise. These pups make great watchdogs because they will raise an alarm when they sense a disturbance to their environment, but they are not aggressive and will soon make friends with anyone once they realize there is no threat to them or their family members. They are not aggressive or territorial and lack natural hunting instincts. Because of his stubborn nature, he is not recommended for first time dog owners or families with younger children.
